YEAR B: HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 14TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: INVITATION BEARERS

BY: Rev Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare

HOMILY:

Outreach for Jesus is an adventurous hunting in which souls must be “captured” life. It is an expedition without weapons. We approach people without anger, virility and legalities. We move out with simplicity, tact, insightful strategies and complete discernment. Using a local expression, we don’t win souls by force: we use luring. Jesus instructs us to look at nonbelievers as rich harvest and potential Christians. But, we must approach them as one would move to dangerous creatures like the wolf. If we don’t outsmart the unbelievers, they will “convert” us to sin and destruction. We are not to harm them, but we must be extremely cautious. Many holy people fell deeply into some sin, danger or disaster because they took the “dangerous” nature of the unrepentant for granted.

Interestingly, Jesus instructed us to plan our safety and security but not to worry much about content. The rational is simple: carefulness will keep us holy and that is enough sermon. Pray that our ministers would not be destroyed by the wolves we seek to convert.

PRAYER POINTS
~For prudence and discernment   ~For spiritual and physical safety for ministers
~That we can stand firm to the end
