HOMILY THEME: A call to live with a love that goes beyond limits and trusts fully in God

2 Cor 8:1-9; Psalm 146:2, 4-9; Matt 5:43-48
INTRODUCTION
The readings of today, teach us about generosity and love. They challenge us to live with a love that goes beyond limits and trusts fully in God.
FROM OUR FIRST READING
In the first reading for Tuesday of the 11th Week in Ordinary Time Cycle 1, Paul praises the Macedonian churches for their generosity. Even though they were struggling, they gave joyfully to help others in need. Paul encourages the Corinthians to follow this example and excel in giving, just as they excel in faith and knowledge.

WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM OUR FIRST READING OF TODAY?
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Generosity shows trust in God. When we give to others, we let go of fear about whether we will have enough. The Macedonians trusted that God would care for them, so they were free to give to others, even in difficult times.
FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
The Gospel reading this morning, call us to love our enemies. This is one of the hardest teachings of Jesus. It’s natural to love those who treat us well, but it’s much harder to love someone who has hurt us.
WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM OUR GOSPEL READING TODAY ?
My dear friends in Christ, Jesus shows us what this love looks like. He prayed for those who crucified Him and forgave those who betrayed Him. Loving our enemies doesn’t mean approving of their actions, but it does mean choosing kindness and forgiveness instead of hate.
CONCLUSION
Dear brethren ms, we can be generous in many ways. It’s not just about money. Sharing our time, talents, and kindness with others is also important. Giving helps us grow in love and faith, and it reflects the care God shows to us.
When we love our enemies, we grow in our faith. It teaches us to rely on God’s strength and grace. It also shows the world a different way—a way of peace and love that goes beyond what is expected.
May we, by the grace of God, strive each day to embody this selfless generosity and this transformative love, so that our lives may be a testament to the boundless love of God, to the praise and glory of His name.
Amen
