12TH MONDAY HOMILY IN ORDINARY TIME — YEAR A

HOMILY THEME: KEEPING HOPE ALIVE!

BY: Fr Oselumhense Anetor

Gen 12:1-9; Psalm 33:12-13, 18-22; Matt 7:1-5

Abram’s story launches us into a journey of faith and trust that’s quite compelling. Here was a man who had no reason to trust or have faith in God. He had no prior experience of God’s omnipotence, yet he decided to make a huge leap of faith by leaving the land he knew for a place he didn’t; all because of a promise. He didn’t, nay; couldn’t see the end from the beginning. But he trusted that the One who called him, will take him to the promised land.

One of my brother priests once said to me, “O boy, if to say we know say this work hard like this, I for nor do o…” I laughed and told him to have faith. But in my heart, I was thinking the exact same thing. But you see, I’ve also come to realise that God never promises us a crossless journey. But He does promise to be with us every step of the way. No matter what happens, we have become a joyful people because we have been chosen to be bearers of the Good news. What we need do is trust God, and have the courage to remove the planks from our own eyes so that we can help remove those of others by God’s grace.

Good morning dear. God bless your week ahead.
