14TH FRIDAY HOMILY IN ORDINARY TIME: YEAR A
HOMILY THEME: TRUSTING GOD, BE WISE, AND ENDURE!

Introduction
Today we celebrate, Saint Benedict, born around the year 480 in Italy, is known as the “father of Western monks.” He started out living alone in a cave because he didn’t like the bad behavior he saw in Rome. Later, he gathered followers and built several monasteries, including the famous Monte Cassino.

At Monte Cassino, he wrote a set of rules called the “Rule of Saint Benedict.” This rule was a sensible guide for monks, balancing prayer with work. It became super important for monasteries all over Europe and helped keep learning and culture alive during a tough time.
Saint Benedict died around 547. He was later made a saint, and in 1964, he was named a patron saint of Europe because of his huge impact on the continent.
Today’s readings give us some important lessons about life and faith.
The Power of Family and Trusting God
In our first reading, we hear about Jacob and his family. Jacob listens to God and moves to Egypt. There, something wonderful happens: he finds his son Joseph again! Imagine how happy Jacob must have been. This story shows us how strong family love can be. It also teaches us to trust God’s plan, even when things are tough or confusing. When we trust God, good things can happen, and we can find peace.
Being Smart and Strong in Faith
In the Gospel, Jesus talks to his friends, the disciples. He tells them that they will face hard times and people might treat them badly because of their faith. But Jesus also gives them good advice: be smart like snakes, but gentle like doves. This means we should think carefully about what we do, but always be kind and good.
Jesus also promises something amazing: the Holy Spirit will help them when they are in trouble. And, He says that those who keep believing through the hard times will be saved. This gives us so much hope! It tells us that even when things are difficult, God is with us, and there’s a great reward for staying strong in our faith.
Lessons for Us : So, what can we learn from all this?
First, remember that family can give us strength and comfort. Like Jacob and Joseph, our loved ones can bring us great joy and support.
Second, trust God. Even when we don’t understand why things are happening, God has a plan. Lean on Him.
Third, when we face challenges, we should be wise and innocent. Make good choices, but always act with a pure heart. And remember, the Holy Spirit is always there to guide us.
Conclusion
Finally, Jesus’ promise of salvation tells us that keeping our faith, even through hardships, leads to wonderful things in heaven.
Let’s remember these lessons as we go about our weekend. Let’s trust God, be wise, and endure in faith.
