Acts 5:34-42; Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14; John 6:1-15

INTRODUCTION
Today we celebrate Friday of the Second Week of Easter. The readings show us the courage of the Apostles, the generosity of a young boy, and the deeper meaning of the Eucharist.

FROM OUR FIRST READING
In our first reading for today the Apostles are brought before the council and face persecution for preaching about Jesus. Instead of feeling defeated or fearful, they leave rejoicing. They see their suffering as a privilege because it allows them to share in Jesus’ mission and His sacrifice.

WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM OUR FIRST READING?
This reaction in the first reading, shows their unshakable trust in God’s purpose. They believe that their hardships are not wasted but are part of a larger plan to spread the Gospel. The Apostles’ courage inspires us to face our own challenges with faith, knowing that God is with us in every trial.

FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
The miracle of the loaves and fish in the Gospel Reading of today, points to the gift of the Eucharist. Just as Jesus feeds the crowd with simple bread, He offers us spiritual nourishment in the form of His body and blood. The Eucharist is a reminder of God’s constant care and presence in our lives.

WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM OUR GOSPEL READING ?
The abundance in the miracle also reflects the abundance of God’s love. Through the Eucharist, He provides more than enough grace to sustain us on our journey of faith. It is a gift that unites us with Him and with one another.

CONCLUSION
We are called to see beyond immediate pain and to trust that God can use every situation for His purpose. By remaining faithful, we share in the mission of Jesus and grow stronger in our relationship with Him.
We are encouraged today to reflect on the Eucharist as a source of strength and nourishment. It reminds us that just as Jesus fed the crowd, He continues to feed us spiritually, giving us what we need to live in faith and share His love with the world.

Have a blessed Friday with a wonderful weekend ahead !!
