2ND MONDAY HOMILY OF EASTER: YEAR A

HOMILY THEME: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

BY: Bishop Anthony Ewherido

Acts 4:23-31, Ps. 2:1-9, John 3:1-8

As Easter season unfolds, we continue to join the early disciples in their Easter witness and allow them to challenge us to greater spiritual heights. The first reading notes that “they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to proclaim the word of God boldly.”

We too have been blessed immensely with the gift of the Holy Spirit and must be courageous and bold in our witness. And when things were rough like we have in our world today, their prayer gatherings were confirmed by the Holy Spirit, who urged them on. May that Spirit continue to spur us on to greater witness amidst our struggles. No matter how rough the ride gets, the Psalm simply invites us to trust in God. In the midst of the storm, such trust enables us to stay calm. Born of water and the Spirit, the Lord invites us to follow the promptings of the Spirit always, living as people who are born from above. Where the Spirit leads, God’s kingdom abounds. As we get preoccupied with our daily earthly struggles, may the Lord of life help us to focus on the true goal of life, so that our spiritual journey would bring us to our eternal destiny in heaven.

Lord, fill us with your Spirit of life and truth. Amen.
