2ND SUNDAY OF EASTER HOMILY (YEAR A)

HOMILY THEME: THE MESSAGE OF DIVINE MERCY

BY: Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji.

HOMILY: Today is another day the Lord has made, let us be glad in it.

The Second Sunday of Easter known as Mercy Sunday is worth celebrating. Every body is in need of God’s mercy. Forgive one or those who hurt you, reach out someone today with generosity, put smile in someone’s face before the day is done.

In the Gospel of today, John 20:19-30, we are called never be out as church or individual to propagate the message of Christ, the message of Divine Mercy. The power of resurrection in the midst of terror and uncertainties assured peace to us. “Peace be with you” reminds us that we are saved from trouble and may God grant us every good thing necessary for our salvation.

Jesus made the universal sacrament thus He said, as the Father sent me forth so I sent you forth. The church is being sent forth to propagate the message of God’s mercy via sacrament of reconciliation, most necessarily mandated to convey the message of God’s forgiveness to men and women in the world till the rapture.

We the church and its members need Christ as the epicenter of our belief and proclamation. Also, we must be obedient to Christ in all things.

As we show mercy to others today and always, may God be merciful to us now and on our last days on earth. Jesu, we trust in You.

Happy Divine Mercy Sunday?
