34TH THURSDAY HOMILY OF ORDINARY TIME — YEAR B
HOMILY THEME: HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH!
BY: Fr. Oselumhense Anetor
Rev.18: 1-2.21-23; 19:1-3.9a; Lk 21:20-28
It’s a bit difficult to stand firm when everything around is falling apart. Isn’t it? Nigeria today seems to be falling apart. She seems to be full of every vice and/or evil under heaven. Nonetheless (make no mistakes about it) evil will come to an end. Yes! The reign of terror and sin cannot last forever. We may not be certain of the time that God will come to judge the earth, but we’re most certain it will happen.

Just as we’re encouraged to flee from the city of sin in today’s gospel reading, so we must disconnect from the vices that threaten to engulf us even now, on a daily basis. The earth and heavens may be shaken, there may be signs and portents in the sky, the mountains and hills may tremble, but those who put their trust in the Lord are like Mount Sion; they cannot be shaken. For them, the turbulence only leads to salvation. So hold your heads high, stand firm, for the Saviour cometh…
Prayer
Father, may Your grace lead me on, Amen.
God bless your day ahead.
