40 DAYS JOURNEY WITH THE LORD. Day 15
40 DAYS JOURNEY WITH THE LORD.
DAY 15
Moderated by Fr Justin Nzekwe
DAILY CHALLENGE: More closer to Jesus; read your bible and pray more.
DAILY THEME: It doesn’t matter how long it has taken.
THINK ABOUT THIS: One of the greatest things that can destroy anybody is impatience. We get impatient because we have lost hope in the status quo. Each time I think about the lame man at the pool of Bethesda, who patiently waited for 38 years before he was healed, I keep asking myself what would have happen if he didn’t wait.
Possibly this man could have died a lame man, if he had gone home thinking his chances of getting into the healing water was slim. Many left the church, many abandoned a particular devotion, many cursed God all because they couldn’t wait. But I want to assure you today, that if this lame man got healed after 38years of waiting, then your case is not over.
God has not abandoned you. Keep reminding him of your situation through prayer and he will surely give you his words, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”
Bible Reading – John 5:1-15
After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda,[a]having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him,“Do you want to be made well?”
The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.
And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’”
Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
PRAY WITH ME
Lord, even though I have seen myself passing through many ugly situations in recent past. Many times I have prayed and it seemed you kept quiet. But I’m aware that you know the best things for me. I shall wait on you because I know you will never fail me, and I know that no time is late before you. Have mercy on me, and answer me.
Say your word in my life that the devil and my current challenges will become things of the past. I believe in you, and I wait on you, Lord. Let your Holy Spirit also accompany me to make this journey faithfully to the end, so that it may bear fruit in my life. Amen.
(Say this prayer as many times as you can, today)
