40 DAYS JOURNEY WITH THE LORD.

DAY 17

DAILY CHALLENGE: Stations of the cross. Offer your sufferings to God.

DAILY THEME: Give it another try.

THINK ABOUT THIS: Peter laboured all night as a professional fisherman, and ended up achieving nothing. Sometimes we find ourself over- labouring and yet achieving little or nothing. We have the best goods yet no better sales. We put in great effort in our work, yet no promotion. We study hard yet we do not credit our papers.
We are beautiful/handsome yet we find it difficult to find the right partner. You eat good food and proper excises yet you have poor health. It is not because you have not done your best, but because you needed the instruction of the master. Peter told Jesus, “we worked hard all night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” Listen to the voice of Jesus in your life, then be ready to give your challenges another big try. To can still restore the need success.

Bible Reading – Luke 5:1-11

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.

He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.

Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

PRAY WITH ME

Lord, I have made every available human effort, and sometimes I get to the point of giving up. But I believe that your words and guidance will change all I have been labouring all day. I’m ready to lay down my net again. You can make my effort fruitful again. You can restore good things to my life again. You alone can change my life. Touch my life once more and make me whole. Let your Holy Spirit also accompany me to make this journey faithfully to the end, so that it may bear fruit in my life. Amen.
