INTRODUCTION
Today we celebrate the liturgy of December 23rd. Our readings of today focus on God’s preparation, promise, and fulfillment. Malachi speaks of a messenger sent to prepare the way, emphasizing readiness and purification for God’s presence. The Gospel tells of John the Baptist’s birth, which fulfills God’s promises and brings joy to his family and community.

FROM OUR FIRST READING
The message of our first reading, highlights the restoration of relationships and the refining process needed to stand in God’s presence. This purification prepares hearts for God’s arrival, reminding us to seek holiness. The promise of restored family bonds reflects God’s desire for healing and unity. When God enters our lives, He brings peace and reconciliation, both with Him and with one another.
FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
The naming of John in the Gospel reveals the importance of identity and mission coming from God. Zechariah’s obedience in naming his son John shows trust in God’s plan, even when it defies tradition. John’s name, meaning “God is gracious,” reflects the role he will play in preparing for Jesus. This reminds us that our purpose and identity are shaped by God, not by human expectations.
CONCLUSION
John’s birth is a sign of God’s promises fulfilled, bringing joy to Zechariah, Elizabeth, and their community. It shows that God’s timing is perfect, even if it seems slow to us. These readings encourage us to trust in God’s plans, remain hopeful, and welcome the joy that comes with His faithfulness. As we near Christmas, we are invited to prepare our hearts, trust in His promises, and rejoice in the fulfillment of His plan.
May you have a Blessed Monday with a fruitful New week of festival activities.
