YEAR C: HOMILY FOR THE 4TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: GOD’S LOVE

BY: Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji

HOMILY: Glancing through the readings of today Luke 4:21-30, Jeremiah 1:4-5, 17-19 and Icor.12:31-13:13, there is something we need to understand and allow it to take flesh in us.

Many things have their expiring date, many gifts and talents have their designated period of being worthless. But God’s love has no expiring date and limit.
God is love. To have God is to have love. To live in God is to live in love. To experience God is to experience love. To express God is to extend the love of God in us to others.

God’s love is evalasting and whoever has His love will live evalasting life in God. The Jews thought that God’s love is only for them and limited to the gentile world. For the Jews in the Old Testament era, gentiles are seen as fuel for the fires of hell. Therefore, they are cut off from God’s love and salvation.

Mentioning of the Zarephat widow and Naaman who were gentiles by Jesus for have experienced men of God when they were in need showed that God’s love and salvation is for everyone and has not been limited or expired for some people.

As we learn always to horizontalize God’s love to others, may our strength and good will never expire till we finish our Work like prophet Jeremiah.

Happy Sunday and month of love.

Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji is in union of prayers with you and your family.
