BREAKING NEWS: POPE FRANCIS APPROVES CANONIZATION OF BLESSED CARLO ACUTIS AND OTHERS—A MILESTONE FOR GENERATION Y SAINTS

NEWS THEME: CELEBRATING THE FIRST MILLENNIAL SAINT AND MODERN SAINTS

Pope Francis presided over an Ordinary Consistory of Cardinals on July 1st, where the canonization of 15 individuals was approved, notably Blessed Carlo Acutis, who becomes the first millennial saint.

Gathering at the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace on Monday morning, the College of Cardinals convened with Pope Francis for an Ordinary Public Consistory.

FIRST MILLENNIAL SAINT:

Pope Francis and the Cardinals voted to approve the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, marking him as the first saint from Generation Y, born between 1981 and 1996.

Blessed Carlo Acutis is expected to be formally declared a saint during the 2025 Jubilee.
