CYCLE I: CATHOLIC HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE 11TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

THEME: THE SINCERE DIALOGUE!

HOMILY: 2 Cor.11:1-11; Ps.111:1-4,7-8; Matt.6:7-15

We raise up our hearts and minds to God so as to understand his will for us on a daily basis. The story is told of a little boy who had formed the habit of stopping at a Church on his way back from school daily. He would sit in front of the tabernacle (his mother had told him that Jesus lived there) smile at the red light and talk about himself. He would thank God for bringing him safely back from school. Then He would talk about his teachers, his friends and his bullies, asking blessings for them all…

Friends, Jesus tells us today that prayer is not about using many words in order to impress others. God sees our hearts. In praying therefore, we must assume the innocence of a child before his/her father. When we thank God for life, we should mean it, since we are what we are by His grace. We uphold His name and ask for His will to be done on earth, knowing that it shall come to pass. Approaching each day with joy comes from a disposition of faith that He will provide our needs and have mercy on us whenever we fail. We are moved to compassion for others since we have had mercy shown us. In the end, God’s protection over us is assured. This is the right attitude to prayer and praying.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
