HOMILY: Tobit 3:1-11,16-17; Ps.25:2-9; Mark 12:18-27

Two characters in today’s first reading are so frustrated that they decide to pray to God for help. Tobit, because he was tired of being insulted and laughed at, and Sarah, because she had been insulted by one of her father’s maids. We already know that Tobit was blind. It must have been very difficult to continue living without sight. Sarah on the other hand had a spirit husband Asmodeus, who had killed her seven bridegrooms one after another before they ever lived with her as man with wife.

Friends, these two persons nearly despaired. In fact, they had considered suicide at some point, but later preferred to ask God for help. We are told that THIS TIME the prayer of each of them found favour in God’s sight and Raphael was sent to bring sight to Tobit and give Sarah in marriage to Tobias after ridding her of Asmodeus. Your situation may be worse than pathetic, but never lose hope. We must constantly lift up our souls to God in prayer, knowing that God is never late. He answers just when the time is RIGHT!

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
