CYCLE II: HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: ENDTIME WARNING

BY: Fr. Benny Tuazon

HOMIL: (Lk. 21:12-19)

In today’s Gospel Jesus warns His apostles about the end times. It will not be easy. There will be persecutions. There will even be fights and divisions among members of families. Jesus will be a cause of division. Faith in Jesus requires conviction and commitment. One cannot just be a fence sitter. And when the faithful are confronted, they have nothing to worry. Jesus will assured them of His guidance. Jesus made a promised that not even a hair will be touched. Persistence in the faith will merit total protection from the Lord.

There are no assurances of what are to come. At most, Jesus gave the signs before judgment day comes. Thus, we must be prepared for all eventualities. And the best preparation is prayer, knowledge of Scriptures, regular sacrifices and works of charity, discernment, etc. Everything that will fortify our faith and commit to it should brace as perfectly for the end times.

One thing, when you have gotten to the point when you are well prepared, meaning ready to welcome the end times, then you have reached true peace and deep faith in the Lord.
