HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OCTOBER 11 2022

Think about it friends. What good can we really do without God’s love? None! It is love, not law, that makes us truly free. St Paul continues to say this to the Church in Corinth today. Precepts and laws have their place of course, but only genuine love of God and neighbour can make us clean inside out.
Jesus does not encourage pretence. For God, it is more important that the inside of the cup is clean, than the outside. Come to think of it. Why do we struggle so hard to make sure we’re seen keeping the law, but in secret have broken as many as we can? True love does not deceive. Friends, let God’s love for us lead us to genuine love of one another. And through alms giving, may we gradually move from mere observances of rituals to true worship, Amen.
