Theme: THE TRUTH IS BITTER

Homily for Friday February 4 2022

Mk 6: 14 – 29.

I must never give away my good conscience as Herod did. Do I know how to, or rather, do I have the courage to say “no” to things/promises that are wrong, or anything that would negatively compromise my vocation in life? Do I seek to please others, rather than be true to myself? Am I haunted by guilty conscience and fear for killing innocent people with gossip and lies? Am I defiant and bitter when told the naked truth about my actions? Are my advisers malicious?

LET US PRAY
Dear Jesus, conscience is your inner voice in me. May I stand by the truth in obedience to you and to my conscience. May I always remember that the real friend gives me open and truthful rebuke, but the false friend is a psychophant who gives me false and secret love. Dear Jesus, I am sorry for how I have murdered truth, crushed sincerity and silenced honesty. Forgive me Lord. Amen.
