DAILY REFLECTION FOR TUESDAY OF THE 11TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME CYCLE II
THEME: LOVING THE ENEMY
BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI EHJ
REFLECTION FOR TUESDAY JUNE 14 2022
Mt 5: 43 – 48.
Jesus wants me to love everyone, including my enemies and those who do not wish me well. Hmm! Another hard demand. He is inviting me to a life of perfection. He wants me to pray for their conversion. I will not be happy to know that those who consider me as their enemy wish me death, so also I shouldn’t pray for my enemies’ death. Rather, I should love them and pray for their conversion. I am not allowed to use calculator or thermometer in loving. Does the inside of me dictate the opposite of Jesus’ commands? Do I curse my enemies and pray that they should die and perish?
LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, I need your help. I am struggling to be a full Christian who is able to love the unlovable. It’s a tough task for me to swim against the current of the society that fans an eye for an eye mode of living. Help me to love everyone unconditionally. Bless my efforts at striving for holiness and perfection. Amen.
