Faith: The Unholy Trinity in Forex Trading

faith the unholy trinity

In a recent observation, I was struck by Babypips’ choice of a DICE image for their website favicon. This imagery, to me, symbolizes the “Faith: The Unholy Trinity” in forex trading – a blend of GAMBLING, SPECULATION, and RISK. This starkly contrasts with the perception of forex as a LEGITIMATE and MEANINGFUL VENTURE. Below, we delve into the complexities of forex trading and its alignment with the concept of “faith is the substance of things hoped for.”  Check Lawful Cash to understand what Forex Trading is all about, then come back to continue reading.

Faith is the Substance: Ethical Dilemmas in Financial Trading

As someone who once engaged in Forex trading, I’ve come to a significant ethical crossroad. My Christian faith, which teaches that “faith is the substance of things hoped for,” seems at odds with the principles of forex trading.

The Zero-Sum Game

Forex trading, in its essence, is a zero-sum game. Unlike stock trading, where wealth can be created, forex trading merely redistributes existing wealth. It’s a game where “faith is the substance” but not in the creation of value. Instead, it’s about hoping for financial gain at the expense of others.

“Faith: The Unholy Trinity” in Trading

This aspect of forex trading uncomfortably aligns with the “Faith: The Unholy Trinity” – gambling, speculation, and risk. It raises a moral question: how can we reconcile profiting from others’ losses with the Christian directive to love our neighbors as ourselves? This contradiction with Jesus’ teachings has led me to view forex trading as a form of legalized theft.

The Unholy Trinity: A Broader Perspective

Divine Intervention in Trading

Seeking divine success in forex trading seems to contradict the very essence of “faith is the substance of things hoped for.” This sentiment is shared even by non-believers. An agnostic friend once commented, “In forex, you’re essentially making money from nothing. Isn’t that akin to theft?”

Stock Market and the Unholy Trinity

While the stock market is often viewed as a zero-sum game, it differs in the context of wealth creation, which may alter its ethical implications compared to forex trading.

Concluding Thoughts on Faith and Trading

This exploration into forex trading through the lens of “Faith: The Unholy Trinity” urges a reevaluation of its ethical standing. Can one truly align the principles of faith with the realities of forex trading? This remains an open yet challenging question.

In remembering the teachings of Jesus about material desires, we are reminded that indulging in practices driven by the “Faith: The Unholy Trinity” can lead us away from the path of righteousness and eternal life.
