Forgive Easily, The Fate of The Wicked Is Gruesome Already
If we all understood the fate of the wicked, we would be quick to forgive. Understand that holding a grudge in your heart for a person whether as a result of hurt, disappointment, pain, or whatever reason does us no good. It only reduces us to the same level as pagans.
Jesus said in Matthew 5: 43 – 48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your friends, hate your enemies.’ But now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! You must be perfect—just as your Father in heaven is perfect”.
In the “our Father”, we pray; “forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us”. This means that in the same manner we forgive, God forgives us. When we hesitate to forgive, God probably hesitates too. This is another reason we must readily forgive.
You must understand that the punishment of sin is so great. The wicked already has a severe punishment awaiting him. We shall highlight a couple of them written in the bible just to remind us;
Proverb 11:21
You can be sure that evil people will be punished, but the righteous will escape.
Psalm 34:21
Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
Proverbs 14:32
The wicked is thrust down by his wrongdoing, but the righteous has a refuge when he dies.
Philippians 3:19
They are going to end up in hell, because their god is their bodily desires. They are proud of what they should be ashamed of, and they think only of things that belong to this world.
Revelation 20:15
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:8
“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Psalm 32:10
The wicked will have to suffer, but those who trust in the Lord are protected by his constant love.
Proverbs 2:22
But the wicked will be cut off from the land and the treacherous will be uprooted from it.
Proverbs 13:5
A righteous man hates falsehood, but a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully.
Proverbs 24: 21 – 22
Have reverence for the Lord, my child, and honor the king. Have nothing to do with people who rebel against them; such people could be ruined in a moment. Do you realize the disaster that God or the king can cause?
Matthew 13:49
“So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous,
Proverbs 10:27
The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be shortened.
These passages are here to convince you that a lot of punishment await the wicked. So you shouldn’t out of anger decide to share in this punishment by refusing to forgive, or by tarnishing his/her image, gossiping about them, or by taking certain questionable actions which would put you in the wrong. Rather, pray for such people. Pray that God reveals Himself to them, that they may learn to love and worship Him in truth and in spirit. Pray that their sins be forgiven. Tell God that you understand and He should set them free from the punishment due to them. Pray for those who maltreat you, pray for those who try to bring you down through dubious means, pray for those who have sold their souls to the devil and make it their mission to torment Christians. The punishment due to the wicked is so great. Pray hard for sinners, that they may find Jesus.
The foundation of Christianity is love. And a forgiving spirit is one of the many virtues that encompasses love.
A loving spirit is a forgiving spirit. A forgiving spirit holds no grudges.
So forgive those that hurt you. Just pray for them. There is already a severe punishment awaiting the wicked; try not to put yourself in the wrong as well.
