INTRODUCTION
Today we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent Year C. This day prepares us for Jesus’ birth by focusing on God’s promises, humility, obedience, and recognizing His presence. The readings from Micah, Hebrews, and Luke guide us to reflect on how God works through simple beginnings, invites us to follow His will, and calls us to see His hand in our lives.

FROM OUR FIRST READING
The first reading from Micah shows God’s promise of a ruler from Bethlehem, a humble and small town. This reminds us that God often chooses simple and overlooked places to fulfill His plans. Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem shows that God values humility and works through what the world might consider insignificant. We are invited to trust that God can bring greatness from small beginnings in our own lives.
FROM OUR SECOND READING
The second reading highlights Jesus’ obedience to God’s will. Jesus declares that He came to do what God desires, not His own will. His sacrifice shows complete trust and commitment to God’s plan. This challenges us to examine our own willingness to follow God’s call, even when it requires letting go of our own desires. Obedience to God leads to deeper faith and a meaningful life.
FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
In the Gospel, Elizabeth’s joy at Mary’s visit shows the importance of recognizing Jesus’ presence. Elizabeth sees God’s work when her baby leaps in her womb. This teaches us to be attentive to God’s presence in everyday moments. As we prepare for Christmas, we are called to look for signs of grace around us and welcome Jesus into our lives with trust and joy.
CONCLUSION
Finally dear brethren, today’s liturgy, encourages us to be watchful and open to God’s presence. Like Elizabeth, we should be aware of the signs of grace around us. By doing so, we prepare our hearts for Jesus and experience the joy of His coming, not just at Christmas but every day.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
