Wise people say “Of all the gifts that life has to offer, a loving mother is the greatest of them all.” The Blessed Virgin Mary was chosen and honoured by God and greeted honourably by an angel: “Hail full of grace” (Luke 1:28). She was the mother of the “King of kings and Lord of lords” (Rv 19:16) and our mother (John 19:27). She was honoured after death as that “Woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (Revelation 12:1-3). As a faithful disciple, she received the crown at the end of her sojourn on earth (Revelation 2:10; cf. 1 Corinthians 9:25). The Church acknowledges her as Queen because she was “…Exalted above all choirs of Angels and the ranks of Saints in Heaven, standing at the right hand of Her only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, she petitions most powerfully with Her maternal prayers, and she obtains what she seeks” (Pope Pius XII, 1954). The Vatican II Council confirms Mary as “Exalted by the Lord as Queen of the universe…” (Lumen Gentium, 59). We pray to her daily as we lift our lowly voices saying, “Salve Regina, Mater Misericordiae.” We call on her to join us in the war of destroying Satan’s empire in the modern world. Do you know she intercedes constantly to God on behalf of her spiritual children?
