It’s so hard to say goodbye to good companions. It is true that we meet to part and we part to meet again. By his departure, Jesus teaches us how to get out of a place and give opportunity to other people to continue the good. work from where we stopped. We, on the contrary have the tendency to cling too much to office and loved ones; we become so obsessive and possessive of positions and people that we hardly give them a breathing space, because we are afraid that someone else is going to take them away. Jesus prepared the hearts of his disciples towards His departure from the earth. Thereafter, “He withdrew from them and was carried up to heaven” (Luke 24:51). There are a few lessons we can draw from the ascension of Jesus into heaven. As Jesus was lifted up, we too will be lifted up. He says, “And I when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself” (John 12:32). As the Apostles looked upward seeing Jesus being lifted up, we too look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We also have a special role as Christians to lift up the name of Jesus, “. so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” ((Luke 1:79). How prepared are we to say goodbye whenever it becomes necessary?

ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 1:1-11; HEBREWS 9:24-28, 10:19-23; LUKE 24:46-53 Thursday, 6th Week of Easter
