HOMILY FOR THE THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A.
HOMILY THEME: CREATIVE COMPANIONS OF GOD
BY: Fr. Joseph Nyarko Asare
HOMILY:
Prov 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31
Ps 128
1Thess 5:1-6
Mt 25:14-30
Hard work, diligence, integrity, fruitfulness and words like these are the outcome of discipline, good judgment, prudent steps, and sacrifices. These are Divine attributes and only God and his conscious images can posses them. The personality of the one possessing these is like a sweet, fragrant oil; it advertises itself without making conscious noise.
The child of God has these for no one can enter the eternal dwellings of God without the possession of the personal traits of God. Such individuals have no fear of judgment. They are like the industrious wife of the first reading and the faithful servants of the Gospel.
Lives of this nature are blessings for humanity, generations and themselves. They add up to the beauty of creation, the promotion of human dignity, preservation of what is good, and the material realization of the glory of God. Put bluntly, they exhibit the creative powers of God. The obvious conclusion is that they enjoy the fruits of their labour, the favour of God and the possession of eternal life. An uncreative life is useless and unfit for the glory of God.
