HOMILY THEME: THE BIRTH OF MARY

HOMILY:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLESSED MOTHER (ON THE FEAST OF THE NATIVITY OF BVM)

Natural minds talk of history while spiritual minds ponder on divine providence. No one forgets the day he/she was born. For every birth has a tincture of divine providence. What is actually ‘divine Providence’ if not time running under the sandclock of divine timetable.

God’s agenda centres on redemption necessarily (1 Tim 2:4). And in the genealogies of men we find a fall and a rise, a loss and a restoration, and so on. God made the first Adam and Eve out of the dust that they became living beings. From them the whole humanity fell.

But in the fullness of time (Gal 4:4) God prepared second Adam and Eve to restore grace to them. This time, Eve preceded Adam which ran contrary to the proceeding of the first. The birth of Mary is extra biblical just as Abraham’s but that doesn’t mean it is anachronistic. God intended that the Ark to carry the ‘glory’ (Col 1:27) of the new covenant should be perfect, pure and full of grace. That was Mary.

The mystery of today’s feast is so important because there will be no INCARNATION without the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION. These two mysteries are attestations to the Omnipotence of God (Lk 1:37).
Those who would doubt this fact would have the belief in God’s omnipossibility to contend with.

Dear friends today is the celebration of God’s love for humanity that got started with a virgin of Nazareth, Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Mother. Why not stand up to your feet and sing ‘happy birthday’ to our mother!!!
