Mal.3:1-4,23-24; Luke 1:57-66

Rotten hearts and rusty souls need a good wash. Yes! Think about it this way. The fact that gold is dug out dirty does not make it less golden. That oil is drilled as crude does not make it useless. That a One-Thousand-Naira-note gets rumpled does not in any way reduce its value. However, unless gold is purified, oil refined, and money minty, they cannot reach their highest potentials.

RELATED: HOMILY FOR 23RD DECEMBER, 4TH WEEK OF ADVENT

Friends, today, the Prophet Malachi reminds us that the day of the Lord comes with refining and purifying. This is what the new Elijah, John the Baptist, was born to do. Yes! That’s why he is the voice bringing people to repentance. Today, many years later, God continues to invite us to the refiner’s fire, and to the waters of purification. What would be the essence of Christmas if we did not seize it as the opportunity to be truly united to God and neighbour? So let’s go to the confessional today, and get a good wash. Are you with me?

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
