HOMILY FOR 30TH THURSDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — YEAR B
HOMILY THEME: NO OPPOSITION CAN STOP THE GOSPEL
BY: Fr. Ernest Cross
As Jesus made His way to Jerusalem, a group of Pharisees approached Him with a warning: “Leave this place, because Herod wants to kill you.” In this instance, Jesus became aware of secular hostility, which refers to opposition stemming from governmental authority rather than religious sources.

Jesus understood that His opponents were as cunning as a fox, yet He calmly demonstrated that their threats would not deter Him from fulfilling His mission of salvation. He instructed the Pharisees to tell Herod that He was unfazed by the danger and would continue His work until it was completed.
The Kingdom of God has been established, and nothing can tear it down. Like Jesus, we should not be afraid of opposition. We must boldly share the good news of Jesus Christ with courage. Our help is in the name of the Lord. We possess His power, His word, and we are His followers. We will complete the task He has given us, and we will not give up until it is done.
