God may not always answer us when we want Him to, how we want Him to, and where we want Him to. But He certainly answers us, even when that answer may be a ‘no’. Today’s readings present us with two women who experienced the extraordinary favour of God in their lives – Hannah the mother of Samuel, and Mary the mother of Jesus. We learn from these two women that it’s absolutely important to thank God. Hannah was not reluctant to give back to God her only son, just as she had promised. And Mary was not reluctant to let go of her Son Jesus when the time came, even though both women would have loved to hold on a little bit more to their sons.

RELATED: HOMILY FOR 22ND DECEMBER.

Friends, these women knew how to praise God. Hannah composed a beautiful canticle as she offered thanksgiving to God for giving her a reason to laugh. Mary composed the ‘magnificat’ in glorifying God for the wonders he does for men and women. The praise department of their lives were superb. How’s the praise department of your life? When last did you raise your voice in thanksgiving to God for the wonder of your being? If we have forgotten how to praise, let’s learn from these holy women. There is always a reason to thank God, even when we think things aren’t that perfect for us. Moreover, Jesus is already here. Come Lord Jesus, come!

Good morning dear. Have a blessed day ahead. Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year in advance.
