HOMILY FOR MONDAY APRIL 18 2022

*Act 2 : 14 – 33, Matt 28 : 8 – 15.

The Christian life is all about witnessing with all your power to the resurrection of Christ. Peter did that so veritably in today’s 1st reading, affirming as written in the Scriptures that “Death could not hold him captive even in the grave” and as David put it: “You will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor let your Holy one see corruption”. That was a prophetic preview of the resurrection of Christ.

The women of faith (led by Mary Magdalene) were told to go and tell the brethren that Jesus is risen and that they should go to Galilee and see him. The experience must have been quite hilarious and inebriating. As the disciples’ faith were growing in crescendo, the forces of the AntiChrists were busy concocting a demonic story line that the disciples came by night to steal his corpse. It has not stopped happening that enemies of Christ still concoct stories against Christ and his servants. Recently, somebody had time to do a video translated mutilations of Pope Francis’ speech to the Pentecostals just to discredit the Roman Catholic Church. If they did it against Christ, why won’t they do it to a mere mortal? Taking of money (settlement mentality) to do evil has become a homegrown Nigerian malady. Even the judiciary that used to be the last hope of the common has in several times, here in Nigeria, taken money to upturn the truth about elections. The whole world has since been divided into two camps; those who tell people that Christ is risen and those who tell people that his apostles stole him. To which camp do you belong? May God bless you today!
