HOMILY FOR SATURDAY APRIL 23 2022
Jesus rebuked his disciples for their unbelief which was caused by their hardness of heart. They had abundant evidence of his resurrection but were skeptical. Perhaps they expected Jesus to come out from the tomb in a dramatic way with thunder, lightning, and earthquake to make the world believe in the resurrection. Jesus chose to rise differently and silently, in the same manner as a sown seed that sprouts silently. He appeared physically several times to people on the day of his resurrection, he appeared to individuals, he appeared to groups, he shared the word, he shared bread and meal with the people. We live in a world that is full of skepticism, and unbelief and where people are ignorant of the resurrection. And an unbelieving world where millions are falling back to superstition, witchcraft, and occultism. We need to stand firmly against the infection of unbelief because “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). Jesus sends all believers to “Go into ALL the world and preach the Gospel to the WHOLE creation” (Mark 16:21). Thus, believers are commissioned to share the good news, the best news ever, and the greatest historical event in human history that Jesus died, He has risen, He is alive and He will come again. Do we share this good news with enthusiasm and with a sense of urgency?
