*INTRODUCTION*
Good morning dear brethrens, today we celebrate Friday of week 8 in Ordinary Time. And in a special way, we commemorate the Optional Memorial of Saints Marcellinus and Peter, Martyrs.

RELATED: HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF 8TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME.

*FROM OUR FIRST READING*
In our first reading today, the prophet Sirach spoke of how people who were wicked and who did not do good things were quickly forgotten or shunned. This is indeed true as those who committed crimes and wicked things, or those who have been selfish in their lives may indeed have good and pleasurable lives, but they would be remembered with infamy and hated by everyone who came after them. Is that what we want to be remembered as, brothers and sisters in Christ?

*FROM OUR GOSPEL READING*
The temple is to be replaced by a new house of prayer, a new praying community, the community of those who do the will of God as Jesus has revealed it, the community of Jesus’ brothers and sisters, what came to be called the church. The church is to be a prayerful community. It is also to be a community that is marked by forgiveness. When Jesus speaks about prayer at the end of that gospel reading, he links it to forgiveness. ‘When you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your failings too’. The readiness to forgive as we have been forgiven is one of the primary fruits that God would expect to find among this new community of prayer.

*CONCLUSION*
Brothers and sisters in Christ, therefore through what we have heard in our Scripture passages today, all of us are reminded that each and every one of us should get rid from ourselves the darkness and corruptions of sin and evil, and all the things which have often kept us away from the fullness of God’s grace and love. And just as the prophet Sirach had reminded us and as the Lord had done, in driving all of those unscrupulous and cheating merchants away from God’s House, thus, each and every one of us are called to purify ourselves, our hearts, minds and our whole entire beings from the corruptions of sin and from all the wickedness and temptations of the evils of this world.

Your Word is indeed my Strength Oh Lord our God. May You All Have a Blessed Weekend.

*Happy Memorial Day of Saints Marcellinus and Peter*
