A testimony is a public acknowledgment, confirmation, or declaration. The life of John the Baptist was an open testimony to the truth. He bore witness to the truth and truthfully testified he was not the Word but just the voice (John 1:23).

Knowing his identity and mission, he describes Jesus as one “Who is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to untie” (Luke 3:16). Jesus gives the greatest tribute to John the Baptist for his truthfulness, humility, and exemplary life.https://www.catholicforlife.com/homily-for-friday-of-the-3rd-week-of-advent-1-2/

The testimony of Jesus is greater because he is the truth, he is the way, he is the life and light. His works are his testimony. Can we learn from John the Baptist to be true witnesses of Christ through our words and works?
