HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF 22ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.

THEME: WRITE YOUR MISSION.

BY: FR. GERALD M. MUSA.

Remember a wellloved proverb which says, “When God wants to bless you, He gives you a mission.” This means the blessings of God often come in the form of a mission. God entrusts people with a specific task, duty or a role that contributes positively and makes meaningful impact on the world. When God assigns a mission he empowers, guides, supports, and strengthens the person who is consecrated or anointed.

The life of Jesus is a perfect example of a purpose-driven life. He knew who he was and he had a clear idea of his mission on earth. He stated his mission clearly by saying, The Spirit of the Lord is upon mne, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” Luke 4:18). He focused on the poor of spirit, those who were hungry for the word of God, and people who are willing to live the values of the Gospel.
We can participate in the mission of Jesus by proclaiming the good news, open the eyes of the hlind and helping to free all those in bondage, and extend the mercy of God. Can each of us write a mission statement in which we articulate the main reason for our existence, the core values and principles that guide our actions, stating our goals and objectives, our target audience?
MONDAY, 22ND WEEK, LUKE 4:16-30
