Most religions in the world including African Traditional Religions believe in the existence of evil spirits and know that evil spirits can control behaviours leading people towards wicked, dangerous, and self-destructive behaviours. Jesus met a man with an unclean spirit in the country of the Gerasenes. The man lived among the tombs (in the cemetery). No shackle could bind him… no chain could hold him and no one could subdue him. The chains he wrenched apart and the shackles he broke in pieces. He engaged in a self- destructive habit of bruising himself with stones. Jesus did what no man could do by subduing and casting out the evil spirits. He commanded the evil spirits saying: “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.” Immediately, the man was set free from the yoke of these evil spirits. Evil spirits still exist and are in search of people whom they will use as tools to perpetrate wickedness and destruction. These evil spirits overrun the souls of many and offer temporary gifts of power, wealth, and pleasures of life. As soon as evil spirits enter the soul, they take away happiness and peace. Those who come to Jesus receive freedom from these wicked spirits. After receiving freedom, we allow the Holy Spirit to take control of every part of our lives. Do you strongly believe that Jesus conquers every evil no matter how ferocious and that he gives every believer authority over evil spirits?
