*FROM OUR FIRST READING*
Today’s first reading from the prophet Daniel is one of the great communal prayers for forgiveness in the Bible. The people as a whole declare, ‘we have sinned, we have done, wrong, we have acted wickedly. We see how everyone is at fault and each person has to take some responsibility for what has gone wrong. That sense of all of us having failed in some way is a healthy antidote to placing the blame on others.

*FROM OUR GOSPEL READING*
In the gospel reading, Jesus calls on us not to judge or condemn others. He was aware of the tendency of us all to see the problem as residing only in others and not also in ourselves.
Therefore, Jesus advises us to be compassionate, nonjudgmental, non-condemning, forgiving of the faults we see and generous in our assessment of others.

*WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM THE GOSPEL PASSAGE OF TODAY ?*
The following are the points that we can learn from the reading the Church has given us today;

RELATED: HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK OF LENT

1. *We have to be Compassionate:* Jesus commands us to be compassionate, to be merciful. This means more than imitation. It means that God’s attitudes must become ours.

2. *Always Be nonjudgmental and non-condemning:* Our calling is to pardon and forgive. Like Jesus said: “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12).

3. *Always forgive the faults of others.* Forgiveness is a serious matter to God. He said that if we don’t forgive others, then we will not be able to experience God’s love and forgiveness in our lives.

4. *Let us be be generous in our assessment of others* . Perhaps once in a hundred years a person may be ruined by excessive praise, but surely once every minute someone dies inside for lack of praise.

*CONCLUSION*
May God bless us all, especially in our efforts to have a most fruitful and blessed season of Lent.
Have a Blessed New Week everyone!
