HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE 15TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME CYCLE II

THEME: Evil has no future!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR SATURDAY JULY 16 2022

Optional Memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Micah 2:1-5; Matt.12:14-21

I listened to Prof. Patrice Lumumba on Channels Television years ago. The Kenyan Prof. is very well known for his straightforward statements against corruption at all levels in Africa. He is quoted to have said “if you fight corruption, corruption will fight back.” Friends, this is a fact. It’s never easy to tell the truth, or live a life marked by sincerity and honesty. As soon as we try, evil plotters arise; those who cannot bear to hear the truth, those who covet both houses and their owners, those who confiscate land and land owner.

Friends, in the fight against evil, lies and corruption, we cannot be tired or discouraged. Even when plotters arise; even when corruption fights back dirty. Today, Jesus had to change territory because evil plotters wanted to kill him. But the readings of today remind us that the evil man will perish. His day is at an end. If we belong to this evil group, we must change camp before it’s too late. Beware, evil has no future. May the Holy Spirit of God make us agents of justice and fairness. And May the prayers of Mary make us better human beings and better Christians, Amen.

Good morning dear, God bless your weekend. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us.
