Homily for Saturday April 9 2022
Ezek.37:21-28; Jer.31:10-13; John 11:45-56
It’s consoling to realise that God watches out for us. Yes! Even the vilest sinner among us. We get this picture from Ezekiel’s prophecy today. Just as the prophecy was directed first to the Israelites, so too the Lord will indeed bring us together from wherever we have scattered. Sometimes, we deliberately stray; and some other times, we are led astray by others. But as many as are willing to let go of idols (wealth, pleasures, vainglory…) shall be purified.
Friends, tomorrow we shall receive Jesus into Jerusalem with our garments on the ground, and palm fronds in our hands. May we also find the grace and the strength to invite him into our hearts so that Holy Week will indeed be holy for us. For there will always be many who are unwilling to give God a chance, like the Jews in the gospel reading of today. As Jesus died for our sake, may we also realise the need to die for others in whatever ways we can, rather than spoiling their chances at a better life and slandering their good name. Amen.
Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
