HOMILY FOR SATURDAY WITHIN THE CHRISTMAS OCTAVE
HOMILY THEME: LIVING IN THE LIGHT.
BY: Rev Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare
HOMILY: (1Jn 2:3-11/Ps 96:1-6/Lk 2:22-35)
The old Simeon prayed for long life in order to see Jesus. Many pray for years to enjoy marriage, healthy retirement, the wealth of children or some entertainment of their choice. But we cannot die for temporal things. Like the old man Simeon, let us live and die for the sake of Jesus.
John encourages us to live in the light. When we do that, we will not stumble, we will elude the schemes of the devil, and enjoy freedom from the powers of darkness. The result will be a glorious life free from demonic influence and evil machinations. Success in all we do will be a normal consequence of life.
We live in the light when we live as Christ. This implies a life of love, forgiveness and complete obedience to God’s will. Let us desire these, pray for the grace to live thus and enjoy the best from God.
PRAYER POINTS
~For the grace to set our priorities right
~That we will remain in the light ~For the grace to seek Jesus in all conditions
