Those atheist who do not believe in God; What goes through their mind when they look at nature? How do they think water came about? Who do they think created the sky and the heavens? What science in all its wisdom can create healthy fruits and herbs which heal? What about air? How do they think it came about? The wisdom of man; do they think it just came to be? No supreme being is behind it?

THEME: THE REWARD OF FAITH

HOMILY FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 7 2022

Our life as believers begins and ends with Faith. It is faith that introduces us to God, and the same faith brings God to us. Just as there will be no light from an electrical appliance if no current flows through it, nothing happens in the life of a man without faith. Unbelievers believe in fate, we believe in faith. And faith expresses God’s governance in both supernatural and natural ways in the life of a believer. Faith creates a kingdom within us, in which God is ruling, and we are acknowledging. This is the meaning of worship. Faith is “life in God.” An unbeliever is not living in God. This is why Paul says that the just shall live by faith. In other words, faith is what credits one of righteousness. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6). If you need healing, it is by the name of Jesus Christ. If you need miracle, it is through the power of faith.

1. Faith is proven by circumstances: faith is the power to stand against challenges in order to let God have His way. When God sees faith, He moves. This is how faith can move mountains.

2. Faithfulness attracts Heavenly Rewards: Abraham and Sarah exercised their faith against barrenness and God moved to make them parents of a great nation.

3. Faith must be persevering in order to be saving: faith is persistent. The master wants you to keep faith alive till He returns. When He returns, He’s going to reward obedience. And faith and obedience are akin to each other, for both are living in concord with God’s will. It is only a faith that perseveres that God rewards. To be negligent of small matters of faith will warrant punishment, even when one claims to be ignorant of the will of God. Ignorance is not excusable as long as faith observance is concerned. This is because faith is born out of knowledge of God’s will. Ignorance and faith do not work together. God will punish severely anyone that willfully disregards the demands of faith.

Keep faith alive in all circumstances, and God will reward your resilience and faithfulness!

Happy Sunday!
