HOMILY FOR THE 25TH MONDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: OPEN THE WINDOWS OF YOUR HEARTS!

BY: Fr Oselumhense Anetor

Proverbs 3:27-34, Ps. 15:2-5, Luke 8:16-18

Someone once remarked that one who does evil openly has the opportunity of being corrected. But the one who does evil in secret cannot be corrected, since he/she appears to be so holy and upright in the open. The first reading today has a set of injunctions; do not refrain from being kind to your neighbour; do not plot harm against the unsuspecting neighbour; do not pick quarrels with one who has done you no harm; do not model your life after the man/woman of violence…

Friends, nothing is hidden under the sun. When we strive after holiness, God gives us the needed graces to attain it. We cannot keep running to dark corners; perpetuating all sorts of evil under the cover of darkness. We must dig deep, and uproot whatever seed of evil germinating in the shadowy recesses of our hearts. As children of light, we must radiate light, that all around us may benefit from our rays of goodness. Open the windows of your hearts. Let the light come in. May God grant us the grace to be better Christians, Amen.

God bless your week ahead.
