HOMILY FOR THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR B (8)

HOMILY FOR THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: We reflect on Jesus hanging on the Cross so that we might have life.

BY: Fr Cajetan Anyanwu

HOMILY:

“The Son of man must be lifted up as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert” (Jn 3:14-21).

This season of Lent offers us the opportunity to focus on the truth! If some people have stopped showing respect to things belonging to God or consecrated to Him, what else will they not do. This shows truly that, “everybody who does wrong hates the light and avoids it.”

The fact that men prefer darkness to light is manifested everyday in the lives of our leaders who enjoy life with their families, in-laws, relatives and friends, while the poor masses suffer. Since they prefer darkness to light, they cover up their evil deeds by fighting anyone who points out their faults for fear their actions should be exposed.

Looking at Jesus on the Cross gives us the whole truth and the truth shall make us free. Happy Sunday.
