Heb.13:15-17,20-21; Mark 6:30-34

I once read off a book that a demoniac was brought for exorcism. Many prayers were said over the possessed person, to no avail. Suddenly, the Holy Spirit revealed to the Exorcist the need for them to praise God for the situation they found themselves in. As soon as the praise and worship began, the demon had no choice but to leave. Today, we’re encouraged to develop the “praise mentality”. Praising God has to become our second nature.

When we develop this attitude, reading God’s word is easier, accepting his will becomes less difficult, obeying authority takes on new meaning and doing good becomes joyful. Like Mary, who went to visit Elizabeth even though she was also heavy with child, let us learn not to ignore the needs of those around us, but to look upon them with compassion and understanding as Jesus did in the gospel reading of today. And in everything, may we learn to offer God a sacrifice of praise, Amen.
