Gen.2:18-25; Mark 7:24-30

Did you play in the rain as a child with other kids? I’m sure no one was too concerned about nakedness back then as there was still a lot of innocence to last a lifetime. What about today? I’m not sure kids can play successfully in the rain anymore. Thanks to all the secular influences, your kid officially knows more than you do about sexual matters, and perhaps from all the wrong sources. No wonder our world has forgotten what it means to be ‘bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh.’ Casual sex and ‘one night stands’ may have taken it all away.

RELATED: HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I

This is an era where parents need to be more vigilant, like the Syrophoenician woman in today’s gospel reading, whose daughter was tormented by an unclean spirit. And even when Jesus tried to make her understand that children (Jews) had to be attended to first before the house dogs (Gentiles), her response showed that she wasn’t going to give up. This is how resolute we too must be in our quest to return sanity and innocence to our world. Friends, let’s go back to our original innocence; the kind that comes to fulfilment only inside the marriage covenant. Through the intercession of Mary our Mother, may we find the needed courage to return to Holiness of Life, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
