HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE CHRISTMAS WEEKDAY

HOMILY THEME: COME AND SEE

BY: Fr. Benny Tuazon

HOMILY :

(Jn. 1:35-42)
In the day’s Gospel, we have the encounter between Jesus and two of John’s disciples. They inquired where the Lord Jesus’ was staying. Jesus told them to “come and see.” It was an invitation to see where Jesus was staying and more. We can reflect three invitations from the Lord.

First, come and see what I do. Jesus showed to His apostles His ministry and His mission. He came to seek the least, the lost, and the last. He went from place to place, climbing mountains, crossing rivers, trekking the desert, teaching and doing miracles.

Second, come and see how I care. Jesus cured the sick; the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dead resuscitated back to life. To the burdened, He gives rest. Jesus showed His love and concern to the people specially the sick. Third, come and see where I would lead you. Jesus always talk about the Kingdom of God where God reigns. It is our destiny. It is the reason for everything Jesus commanded.

An invitation needs a response. We cannot join Jesus’ mission, care for the sick, and reach our ultimate destiny if we will not respond actively to His invitation. We have to take a step to come and look to see.
