HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF EASTER YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: POWER FROM ABOVE

BY: Fr Benny Tuazon

HOMILY:

(Jn.3:31-36) Thursday of the Second Week of Easter

In the day’s Gospel Jesus again teaches the power and authority of God who is from above and know everything because He was the one who created us. It is for our own good to develop a deep trust in Him. Rather than lean on our own understanding and human capacities, our best bet is trust in God.

We have limitations. No matter how rich, intelligent, wise, powerful and famous we are here on earth, there are things we cannot control and address. Humility is ab attitude we cannot afford not to practice. Full trust in God is a necessity. As far as I know, God does not fail and does not abandon.

Throughout world history, it is proven time and again. Kingdoms, no matter how vast, rich, and powerful fell. People, no matter how intelligent and skilled, either fade away or retire. Society and people come and go. Only God remains. Everything has limitations. God is everlasting. Thus, it is wisest that we let God cover our backs and not anyone or anything else.

Somebody once said that if we are at the end of the rope in life, we must tie a knot and hang on. God is our rope and the knot we tie is our faith in Him
