HOMILY FOR TUESDAY MAY 3 2022

Ss . Philip and James

Philip had difficulty in knowing Jesus and so he said to Jesus : ” Show us the Father , and we shall be satisfied . ” Jesus answered , ” Have I been with you so long and yet , you do not know me , Philip ? He who has seen me has seen the Father ” ( John 14 : 8-9 ) . Truly , Jesus is the image of the invisible God . To see , hear and know Jesus is to see , hear and know God . The words and works of Jesus reveal who God is . The more we imitate Jesus , the more the image of God manifests in us . Since the creation of the world , only Jesus rightly and categorically declares himself as the Way , Truth , and Life . He adds , ” No one comes to the Father ( God ) , but by me ” ( John 14 : 6 ) . No human being ever showed a more perfect way to the father ( God ) other than Jesus . On 3rd May we celebrate the Apostles Philip and James , who proclaimed the message of Jesus . Knowing Jesus helps us to proclaim him better . St. Josemaria Escriva says , ” This is the only way to get to know Jesus : speak to him . You will always find in Him a Father , a Friend , an Adviser , a Helper in all the noble deeds of your everyday life . And getting to know Him will give rise to Love ” ( Furrow , 662 ) . What efforts are we making towards knowing Jesus who is the way , truth , and life ?

ACTS 5 : 27-32.40-41 ; REVELATION 5 : 11-14 ; JOHN 21 : 1-19.
