Homily for Tuesday February 1 2022
2 Sam.18:9-10,14,24-25,30-19:3; Mark 5:21-43
Today, the readings reflect the sheer power of the love Fathers have for their children. From David, who wept bitterly over his renegade son’s death, Absalom, to Jairus, who came all the way to ask healing of Jesus for his little daughter that was desperately ill. But above all, we are reminded of God’s absolute love for us as seen in Jesus’s dual miracles of healing the woman who had the issue of blood, and raising Jairus’s little daughter from the dead.
Friends, God’s love for us can never waver. If David who was human could continue loving the son who wanted to kill and overthrow him, how much more would God continue to love us in spite of our many weaknesses? It doesn’t matter if our consciences are dead and buried, God can give life to them just as he raised Jairus’s daughter. And no matter how long we’ve experienced setbacks and challenges, God will liberate us just like he liberated the woman with the issue of blood. But we need to take that one step of faith. We must believe that God will indeed turn his ear and give answer if we genuinely ask Him for help.
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead. Welcome to the Month of February. Happy New Month!
