Homily for Tuesday March 29 2022

Ezek.47:1-9,12; John 5:1-3,5-16

The readings of today primarily talk about God’s ability to heal and purify us. I usually try not to get lost in the many imageries embedded in the first reading, though it is one of my favorite passages of the Old Testament. I love the fact that Ezekiel is made to wade through the water in stages, from when it is ankle deep till it becomes a mighty river, impossible to cross, bringing forth life and freshness to everything along its path.

This water flows from the temple. It has God as its source. It symbolises grace and wholeness; bringing an end to decay, sickness and death. Now imagine that after 38 years of hoping to get healed by the waters of , one man finally gets up, picks up his mat and begins walking around after he expresses his desire to be cured to Jesus. Friends, grace wells up like a big river, available to anyone who’s willing to be well again. For us today, all it takes is one genuine encounter with Jesus in the Sacrament of Penance and Holy Communion. Are you ready to be whole again?

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
