*FROM THE FIRST READING*
In our first reading of today, we heard about the calling of the prophet Jeremiah whom God had called to be His servant and messenger to the people of the kingdom of Judah.
Jeremiah was lacking in confidence because he was still relatively young and inexperienced, but by obeying God’s call and doing what the Lord had told him to do, Jeremiah would go on to become one of the greatest of the prophets, enduring a lot of trials and challenges for the sake of the Lord and His people, and patiently enduring them and continuing to do the work of God despite all that he had to go up against, all because God was with him and that God gave him the strength, wisdom and courage to endure even the worst of persecutions.

*FROM THE GOSPEL READING*
Today’s gospel is about the parable of the sower. The sower sows seeds in the field. Some fall on the footpath, on rocky ground, on thorny ground and some fall on good soil. This parable seems quite easy to understand. This is aimed at the hearers of His word. The sower is God and the seed is God’s word and His Kingdom. The different kinds of soils or grounds are the different human reception or different ways of accepting God’s word and they produce different kinds of fruit accordingly.

*CONCLUSION*
Dear brothers and sisters, every human life has its own hardships. So much of our good effort can seem wasted. The forces working against us can threaten to grind us down and undermine our resolve. Yet, Jesus is assuring us, that there is more to life than our hardships and obstacles. The Lord of life is always at work even in the midst of the most unpromising of situations. If we wait in joyful hope, we will not ultimately be disappointed.
May God Bless Us All through Christ our Lord. Amen.
